Profiles
Clive Adolph
Clive joined our parent firm, Freeman Baker Associates, way back in 1970 and soon went on to manage a wide ranging portfolio of clients from the St Albans office. In 1983, he opened the office in Hungerford, which since then has expanded to three Partners and an excellent team of staff to now become PBA Accountants. Clive’s large portfolio of clients includes most business sectors, and he is renowned for bringing his good humour and wealth of experience to get to the bottom of most problems. His speciality is sole traders and partnerships, providing advice to the leisure industry, including restaurants, hotels and guest-houses, wine-bars and café bars, holiday apartments and public houses, and in recognition of this when not wearing his accountancy hat, he is also an Affiliate Member of the British Institute of Inn-Keepers. Clive plays golf when he can, has a love of all things involving food and drink, and enjoys getting involved in all sorts of local activities, which means he has a strong personal and business relationship with the local community.

Ceri Bissell
Ceri joined the firm in 1995 after gaining her Chartered Accountancy qualification at the tender age of 21 with another firm. Ceri was made a partner in 1997.
Although Ceri specialises in corporate issues, she also advises sole traders and partnerships and has extensive knowledge of tax matters across the spectrum of business types. She also brings her common sense, focused approach and level-headed thinking (and laughter!) to deal with all aspects of personal tax compliance and planning.
Ceri’s broad business knowledge enables her to be an invaluable sounding board and source of advice to her diverse portfolio of clients, on all aspects of their business. With two young children, not surprisingly her spare time is somewhat rare but when she does find some she enjoys walking, reading and entertaining (although not renowned for her culinary skills !).

Paul Pointer
Paul grew up and still lives in Newbury, Berkshire and started with the firm in September 1991. He had first time passes in all his exams qualifying with the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in 1996 before being appointed a partner in 2003.
Paul has a varied portfolio of clients, with his particular speciality being the Construction and related Industries and Manufacturing / Engineering businesses from start-ups to well established companies advising them in all aspects of tax, compliance and assisting with managing their growth. He focuses on what the owners want to get out of their businesses and uses his energy, business experience, imagination and lateral thinking to help them achieve their goals.
When not watching rugby at Newbury Rugby Club or trying (unsuccessfully) to lower his golf handicap, Paul is an enthusiastic fundraiser for his local branch of MENCAP. He enjoys spending time with his wife and young son, and in between all of this, can also occasionally be found in the office!
